Thanks everyone! Those wheels are indeed German, 15" Ronals shod with 195/50 Dunlops. The subzero start assist bottle hasn't been connected to any intake manifold for decades! Although it must have worked for the first 10 years until I went to a Dell'orto carb system for a while. Nowadays cold starts are aided by a block heater. Although I don't notice any additional difficulty starting the car while drawing the mixture through the blades of the turbo it's certainly easier if the oil pan has been warming for several hours and attaining operating temperatures is very quick. Not needed in the summers at all since Toronto can be hotter than California then!

Funny you should say that, the guy who runs Super 7 Autos and works on my RX-7s here in England came from Toronto originally. I once asked him what made him want to move to the UK and he said he liked the climate.... which seemed a bit odd when it's sorta raining and grey 300 days of the year. Then he pointed out that where he'd come from it was like -40 all winter and +40 all summer and it sorta made more sense

Thanks! And although it does occasionally touch 40C in the summers (and increasingly more often) and the Great Lakes contributes a great deal of humidity which makes it feel even hotter, it has never reached -40C in the worst of winter. -20C is about as cold as it gets and that's briefly. We had a real taste of climate change last winter when snow barely fell and the coldest temperatures were just below freezing.

Yeah, that was exaggeration for effect ;) After all, -20, it's practically a heatwave  Barely worth mentioning
