Post by 1of1 »

Firstly for codge seeing as he is the numbers man.
1983 gen1 series2 sunrise red BPH 834Y.

Hi all name is phil from village outskirts of basingstoke.
When i first spotted an rx7 back in the 80s did'nt know what it was, chased it around
until caught up mazda rx7 (want one of those)needless to say to expensive.
Managed to buy this one in 1992 from southampton.

I was a member of the mazda rx7 owners club back then.

Car been on sorn since 2005 due to other itches (ford probes).
Recentlly thinking of selling gen1,seeing as just found nice 1993 gen3.(got over that now).

Car not been started for a while (about a year).
Started in garage last weekend but was only firing on one chamber(hope apex seals ok)turned over a few times
with petrol off got regular psst psst psst sound with leading plug out.
Going to do bounce test on compression tester to see if regular pressure from rotor chambers
then check spark fuel etc.

keep you posted as may need some advice.

No pictures at moment got to get her out of garage and cleaned up.still looking good although bit dusty.

Cheers phil.

Hi Phil, welcome to the forum :)

Fingers crossed for you that your 7 just needs a bit more persuasion to wake up after her long sleep and that she fires up soon :)

Hi Phil,
a warm welcome to the forum, glad to have you onboard!
Dave (Codge) will be about shortly to update his 1st database and let you know if he already has anything on your car...... a few members on here were involved in the old owners club so may remember your car.

Hope you enjoy being part of the forum,
happy new year,

cheers,
Ian

Hi, welcome along and all that :D Ford Probe, eh? Good choice ;)

Compression test would seem the way forward, it might just be that the seals are gummed up after standing and need freeing up

Hey mate, welcome along. Get some pics up. Sunrise red is a nice colour.

I'm not far away if you need a hand too. Always happy to help.

Lovely, lovely. I haven't even got to go grovelling for a Reg No.
Thanks Phil......and welcome.

I haven't got it previously noted but just right for inclusion in the list I'm just updating.

Car needs a name (all the machos on here give their cars names, like 'Twinkle' or 'Dinky'....no that's not right :?: ....it's 'Flying Turd' and sweet names like that)......

Can I suggest 'Dusty', or have you already got a name?
