Steering wheel removal Mk3

Hi all, could any one tell me how to remove steering wheel horn pad so I can realign my steering wheel have tried to twist it and lever it, but am worried about damaging wheel.
Also I have a Janspeed exhaust system fitted and its so noisy at 70 mph and around town would like to keep the system but, fit a standard twin pipe rear muffler.in the hope it reduces noise but not performance to much. Can you still purchase a standard none origanal exhausts muffler
my local sources have drawn a blank.

Use a cloth to protect the steering wheel painted spokes and then lever the horn pad off with a large flat blade screwdriver..... just work your way around it with the screwdriver until it comes off.

With regard to your exhaust system, I would check the entire sytem for leaks before you replace the rear box. The Janspeed rear box is a very substantial piece of kit. Common Janspeed leak points are the collector at the header, the welds on both ends of the cherry bomb shaped resonator just before the U bend and also welds at the entry to the back box.

If you do replace the rear box and /or resonator, ,make sure it's a quality item. Glass packed silencers will not last long ... a rotary engine's exhaust runs much hotter than those piston things.

Janspeeds are too noisy on a street car IMO.... we only used to fit them back in the day because they were cheap compared to the factory exhaust systems but a double S is easier to live with on a road car. The Janspeed systems do up the power but the trade off with the noise makes them unappealing. A double S back box can be adapted to fit but it's probably best to either swap the whole system or use the Janspeed headers and then the rest in Double S

Hi ian65,many thanks your idea sounds just the job, hadnt thought about using double s ,I think they have a good reputation for quality ,will keep janspeed front pipes and fit the rest back.
