What oil cooler are you running? This does a third of your cooling.
What turbo have you got? Is it water cooled or just oil? It will put a lot of heat into the system.
What fuel pump are you running? Youve only got 2 injectors, not 4 like on later 13B engines.

Oil cooler and fuel pump are from an FC, turbo I'm not sure.

project update - don't you hate it when threads post the problems but not the solutions!
Swapped in a replacement radiator from jsrcooling on ebay and new hoses (thanks Adam) and she's running fine.
Had a lightning bolt moment in regards to the loss of power - it was the ECU cutting the power due to sensing the overheat. So basically she saved herself
Drove about an hour up to Curborough Sprint Circuit and had 4 spirited drives, with no issues.. she has tons of grip!

The rad you got from jsrcooling was it sent from the US ? If so do you mind me asking what the total cost was.

Re: 12a Turbo overheated then dying :(
It came from the Netherlands and only took a couple of days. 169 dollars including postage. I had to trim the main upper and lower hoses to fit as the angles were slightly different. The coolant level sensor doesn't fit which is annoying, still need a solution for that, just grounded it for now. Also had to trim the lower left mounting bracket off as it was fouling on the oil cooler hose.
Im running a fairly large electric cooling fan, so that didn't fit any of the mounting points but I wouldn't have expected it to.
But the build quality seems decent enough for the money and it came with a new rad cap. So all in for that price, im fairly happy with it.

Thanks for letting me know, I've been getting quotes of £220 plus for a rebuild of my standard rad.

Seems to be a common thing with those Dutch supplied rads. Source an ally nut that will fit the level sensor and get the nut welded to the rad.Wires wrote: The coolant level sensor doesn't fit which is annoying, still need a solution for that, just grounded it for now.
