Oil Pump

Post by Threesevens » Wed Oct 14, 2015 9:54 am

I took the car to a local garage, not an RX7 specialist, and asked them to take a look at a minor oil leak that appears to be coming from the bottom of the oil cooler.
I was hoping that it might be just a case of tightening up a nut but of course that was not the case. They were reluctant to take the cooler apart without having a repair kit which was sensible.
Is there a maintenance kit available and where could I get it? As it is the original cooler should I consider replacing it with a more modern unit? I would appreciate your recommendations.
Many thanks again.

Are you still running the beehive style oil cooler? If so, then the leak from the bottom will be perished O rings. It's a relatively easy fix. See here http://www.rx7fb.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=431

Front mount oil cooler, right?

Chances are the hoses have been overtightened and the oil cooler is cracked.
Repair it or replace it.

They only take copper crush washers so easily found and replaced.
You'll be lucky if that's all it is.

What would I replace the existing beehive cool with. Is it any easy job and where could I source it.
Thanks again
