Newbie on here

Post by Spendyrx » Fri Feb 17, 2017 6:56 am

New on here and hoping to be a fb owner in the next few months. Had rotaries for a while.
Had a fc in 2008 for a few months then bought my FD in 2011 and still have it. In between I've also had 2 rx8s.
Starting to find I'm spending way too much money on my FD and just really not enjoying it like I used to and want something with a little more simplicity and also cheaper service and repair costs so I think the fb is right up my street!
I have a light blue fb lined up, its been stored in a garage for a few years at a mates, he's just about to land the engine in it as he's just rebuilt the engine!
Enough waffling hopefully when If I have it I'll get some pictures up on here.

Lucky, is that you from fduk?
Haha seems a fair swap I'd say :p
Its my mates fb, he's had it for about 8 years and its been stored in his garage. There's a little rust spot on the roof that'll be patched up!
Cheers for welcome, hopefully it'll all go through and I'll get some pictures on here :)
I'm in Swansea, will add it to my profile, cheers dave

Well well well it's been over a year and I still have my fd! But I'm just about to delve in right at the deep end of the shark infested water!
A good friend of mine has been trying to scrap his donor fb but luckily although he had found a few people who wanted to take it, none of them would put any wheels on it and push it on their trailer! Just by chance it was the first time I'd been to his friends yard where it was left only to be comforted by his twr registered counterpart!
I said, I didn't realise there were 2 fbs up here, he replied with, I've been telling you for years I've been trying to scrap one, and then said........if you want it then just take it but you need to get it rolling so...........this is my new project thanks to my good friend 😆 she needs alot of love and hard work on the body but the main bits are really solid!

Hi Spendy,
"Ouch!' is all I can say about the doner car. Plus it's a mix of series 2 (steering wheel) and series 3 (front wheels).
With respect to all the strength and ability of you youngsters, I'd take the doner car for the remaining bits with thanks and look for an easier resto
project.
Maybe the TV and magazine restoration of cars that exist in a handful of numbers has had an impact, but 1st gen RX7's still exist in some quantity.
(Series 2 & 3 that is -not the much rarer Series 1's - see the Location List on here for example).

Hope you don't think that's a negative view......I'm only trying to save you time and effort.
By the way, I would really appreciate any reg numbers you can give me for the Register.

Haha I'm pretty open minded! The wheels are going back to my mate along with the front shocks and hubs!
This is the fun bit.....I'm buying his mx5 and gonna put the engine into it eventually 😂 when I have the log book I'll send you the reg plate 👍
