A guy in Scunthorpe recored ours around 10 years ago. He was ex Serck with his own workshop as I recall.
Superb job for around £110......looked like a new S3 rad after the work and it's done the job perfectly.
After all, with a new core and top bottom tanks soldered properly in place it should be like a new rad.
There should be a profusion of light engineering rad specialists around your part of the world Dibs.....it's just finding the right one.

You can refurbish modify the radiator with a highly efficiency race radiator block. That's what i made long time ago and never had any problems. Not even more cost to do that cause the working process is the same.

Just phoned a company in Colchester and to refurbish my rad would cost £180 +vat . That seems a bit dear to me what do others think ?

That's £216 with Vat......it does seem a lot.

I have just put mine in for re-core this morning. £165 + VAT at a place that I have used before in Newcastle upon Tyne (Advance Radiators, www.adrad.co.uk). Series 3. It will be ready tomorrow afternoon. Ben, who I dealt with agreed with me that it was a lot in comparison to their common stock but said that they buy in the cores and as soon as radiators were no longer manufactured as new units the manufacturers of the cores always hike up the prices. said he sees this across the Board, regardless of make and model. I wanted to keep mine standard (other than the electric fan), so decided the re-core option was best.

I was meant to go and see it yesterday but I couldn't get there. He said he was going to start primering it. Hope to get to see it in the next few days, what do you bet it is not primered?
