I found the car outside needing saving & have since dried it out & stripped the car down to a rolling shell, engine, box, front lights & dash, front carpet plus front seat are still fitted.
The car is 'saveable' though there is a fair bit of welding needed to do this...Front scuttle panels & bulk head, front N/S floor pan, front O/S chassis leg, inner sills both sides at the front on both, both A posts at the top, top of the windscreen, rear window rain gutter, rear light 0/S panel, rear valance in O/S corner, O/S rear boot plus I am sure there will be some more. Needs a new N/S door, windscreen, rear lights & a re-paint. My intenion was to buy a later Californian car with a good body & rob it of all the panels/parts needed. The engine & box look ok though I have not had it running or driven it, the previous owner said it would run ok when it was parked up? The outer sills, rear floor pans, front & rear wings, bonnet & O/S door, roof, boot are pretty good. This car has the potential to be a very valuable RX7 if done well, unfortunatrely I have had to curtail my plans due to too many projects & the fact I have run out of storage so it is now needing an entusiastic person who wants a project. Unlike the later cars that are still very inexspensive to buy, this one however, because of its originality & age should be worth in excess of £18000 plus once complete, possibly more in Japan or in the Antipodes. Personally I think early Japanese cars can only go up, judging by the early Toyotas, Datsuns & earlier Mazdas that are well into their £40k's!
Please call me on 07973 183610 if you have any questions or would like to veiw the car. I would love it if the car stayed here in GB though happy to deliver it to a shipping company, Southampton being the nearest. Photos of when I found the car taken by the previous owner & of the car in its present state. I can whatsap more photos if required
