Hi Guys - Sadly selling Gus.

Post by codge » Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:44 pm

So.....the time has come. My health is failing and it's time for us to sell our treasured Gus.
Gus is a Silver Series 3 FB, bought by us in mid 1993, with only delivery miles.
Yes, he was warehoused unregistered in a Mazda Dealer in Barnet for the first 8 years or so after coming off the ship.
He is on a 1992 reg plate K27 PLY. The plate goes with the car.

Present miles is coming up to 57,000.....guaranteed genuine and I have all my service records from 1993 to show to a buyer. Oil changes every 3000 without fail. He's tested until November and the body is exceptional.

He wants a bit of work....e.g. re bushing perhaps and the fuel sender in the tank is stuck. Slight electrical glitches on the indicators/hazards. Not a problem to use them though.
The tyres are beautiful but they are way past 12/14 years old. My MOT man says "so what", they're not cracked or perished.

Not desperate to sell but looking at around £8000, including the unusual but genuine Reg Plate.
I should add the pics are from Insurance mid 2017.

Dave sorry to hear that you are thinking of selling your car, I've been using mine less and less and wondering if it's time to pass mine on and know what a wrench it is to let our babies go.
I hope your health gets better.

Nooooooo

So sorry to hear this Dave, that must have been a really tough decision. Health issues are highest priority though, so I hope things improve for you.

Car looks gorgeous in those pics. Glad you are not in a hurry to sell and I hope someone can take it off you who will continue to love it and look after it as well as you have done.

Even if you do sell it, I sincerely hope you are willing/able to continue on the forum.

Cheers Dave.
It's time for us to sell whilst I still have the health to handle things.
We need a small car now for my dear wife instead of Gus.

I'm under treatment at Clinics in Sheffield and they seem to be experts in their field.

Thanks for the good wishes.

Dave

Thanks Malc.
Yes, I will continue as long as possible.
I'm physically still mobile and able to do things but looking ahead there may come a time when I can't drive because of treatment.
Neither an FB or a Merc CLK are good options for getting into tight parking spaces in Sheffield.

Sorry to hear about this Dave, as the saying goes "Shit Happens" but not good when it happens to you!
As the founding member of the Red Stripe sub forum I hope when the time comes to part with Gus you make sure the new owner is aware of its importance.

Your health is the most important thing Dave. Sad to see the partnership end though .. very strange to think of Gus with anyone else.

I do hope he stays in the RX7fb family.

Was a bit of a shock to read that Dave but as others have said health has to be priority. Gus is a credit to you and I would say that is a good price for a one of a kind Rx7. Would be nice if Gus goes to someone who will be a member on here and I hope you will stay with us Dave keeping your records like no one else could.
