4x114.3 hub swap

Post by Dan Dillinger » Mon Jul 02, 2012 7:29 am

Hey,

Am I right in thinking, the series 3 FB RX7 came with 4x114.3 PCD?

Is it a straight forward enough job to swap the hubs onto an earlier RX7?

My car has 4x110 PCD :(

You can swap to S3 4x114.3 but isn't a case of just swapping the hubs because they upped the size of the bearings for S3's. You can however swap the whole strut assembly over from an S3 for the fronts and for the rears you have to swap the whole rear axle which is has a slightly wider track but otherwise is a bolt in swap.

Thanks for that!

On the lookout for a donor car now :)

You don't necessarily require a donor car dude, give Tim at Rxmotors a shout he should be able to dig out what you want out of his considerably sized cave. :D

Yeh, I know. I really could do with a donor car for other bits too! The wiring on my car has been bodged over the years, was really wanting to swap another loom in!

Which loom do you need? I've got a S2 loom here which is complete rats nest part of the engine loom.

I think it is a series 2 loom I need. I assume my car is a series 2? Its a 1982 model with 4x110 hubs? Series 2/3 bumpers?

I could do with a complete loom, engine and interior.

I know of a family friend who has a FB sitting, I'll go check see if its a series 3!

Could I use a series 3 complete loom in my car?!

I meant to say the rats nest part was missing, but yeah yours is an S2. I don't think there are any particular major differences from S2 to S3 with regards the loom though so you should be okay whatever that car turns out to be. Won't be an enviable job swapping them over though. Although if you are doing a complete teardown it should be slightly easier.

You get anywhere with this?

I got some hub adaptors that would convert 4x110-4x114.3 if needed.

Series 2 12a stock, Silver
Series 1 RX2 12a, Herschel Orange

Blast from the past!

Stripped my S3 axle down. Ready to get refurbished.

I'm planning on having it shortened a little as I'm aware it's wider than the S2 back axle plus I want to run wide silly offset wheels.

Question is, how much wider is the s3 axle compared to the s2? I think I've read somewhere its 30mm wider?
