Re: KIMI 2 - 1983 Series 2

Small beer compared to the major projects reported on here, but satisfying to get KIMI 2 back on the road this afternoon - and a lovely day for a drive too. I've just come back from a 25 mile run to test the brakes. Emergency stop locked the wheels and she pulled up in a lovely straight line :thumbu...

Re: BEAULIEU SIMPLY JAPANESE - 28 Jul 19

Bump... Bit of time yet, but closing date for payment is 30 June. The RX-8 OC have also extended an invitation to FDOC (the "breakaway" group from FDUK - https://fdoc.co.uk/). About 5 FD's currently look to be attending too :D So, could be FB, FC, FD, FE (RX-8). Be great if some old school rotors co...

Sadly, I won't be able to make this one (again!) - my son is getting married that weekend :D

Re: KIMI 2 - 1983 Series 2

I wonder if some slider bolts from a MK1 MX5 would fit? https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/front-caliper-slider-large-mk1-25-standard-brake-p-897.html https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-Front-brake-caliper-slider-pin-set-Mazda-MX-5-MX5-Eunos-mk1-mk2-l-h-r-h-/400425329036 https://i.imgur.com/UmhfebQh.jpg Brill...

Re: KIMI 2 - 1983 Series 2

Oh dear, Bigg Red have replied: "Hi there, Thank you for the enquiry but unfortunately we cannot help with these sorry. They are very difficult to source. We have known people have to make new ones to fit." That's a surprise - if these guys can't get them, that's a little concerning. Surely ...

Re: KIMI 2 - 1983 Series 2

Thanks guys, the only possible source I was aware of was Bigg Red. I used them to refurb a pair of rear calipers for KIMI 1 a couple of years back. I've just shot them an email enquiry. I finally got the piston out :x I had to put it back on the car and stamp on the brake pedal a few times, nothing ...

Re: KIMI 2 - 1983 Series 2

I had the front, passenger-side brake disk getting a lot hotter than it should, so took off the caliper and found the sliding bolt was bent and the piston seized :( . I pumped the piston most of the way out using the brake pedal, with a block of wood in situ. I then removed the caliper from the car,...
