Re: Homer - 1985 FB

So, after a 10 month silence, I thought best to update you guys with some confidence boosting images. As I keep reminding myself, the car had sat in a field for 8+ years before I got my hands on it, so I was never expecting a spotless example. I'm sure I already know the answer here, but these housi...

Replacement Panels/ Metalwork

Hi all, I'm in the process of stripping an '85 FB that sat for a few years in a weed ridden storage yard. On the surface, the car looked fine, as I've removed stuff, I'm finding holes everywhere. Long story short, it needs a new floorpan, firewall (incl. raintray), front and rear arches and sills. D...

Hi Thomas,

How have you found the RA OMP? Have you premixed as well? Last question (promise), does the 13B adaptor fit to the 12A direct?

Thanks,
Craig

Re: Homer - 1985 FB

After a couple of months of avoiding rain and cold weather. I decided to roll Homer out of the garage to create room for what’s coming off ready for sandblasting and welding. Especially while I ‘work from home’. Safe to say, I didn’t expect to find as much damp in the needle felt under the carpet as...

Re: Homer - 1985 FB

I dailied an rx3 sedan with a 13b Bridgeport for about 3 yrs back in Australia... loved it Bridgies are pretty standard back home (NZ) and in aussie aye hahaha. Injection should help! I guess this all boils down to personal preference as well as driving style...? How does it reflect against fuellin...

Re: Homer - 1985 FB

How much have you stripped off it? Front end so far... I've pulled apart the bumper mounting brackets. The chassis rails then crumbled in my hand as I fiddled with more, rad's out and the carb/ inlet assembly will be off by the weekend (when I get time). So I haven't delved too far into stripping i...

Re: Homer - 1985 FB

If your doing it yourself it's also a big project, it'll still cost, but you'll learn loads and it might be affordable. Have you followed any restoration Chanel's on YouTube to get an idea of time and efforts involved? I think it’s best I bite the bullet and go on my own. Might be good fun doing th...

Re: Homer - 1985 FB

Hi Rich, Thank you for your take on it. I'm not overly fussed how it looks at the end as I don't intend on winning awards with it... just something to enjoy a weekend drive in (when the sun plays nice). I am tempted to learn how to weld sheet metal, during my days at uni (long enough ago) I went thr...

Homer - 1985 FB

Hi all, Finally decided to crawl around ‘Homer’ and start stripping bits off to see how much work needs to be done to get him roadworthy again. Backstory? You ask?! Bought it (cheeeeeeeaaaap) last October from a gent who’d left it sat for a few years in a yard across from where I work. So rust was t...

MSD Blaster Coils

Hi all, I've tried searching for the answer on this everywhere, but has anyone run MSD Blaster coils as a direct replacement to the stock items? Any issues or better (hopefully cheaper) alternatives? I've been looking at the high vibration variant so I can stick it in the same slots as the stock one...
